Hotel Piedras y Olas welcomes the Scuba Shack, led by Glenn and Nahoko Campbell to San Juan del Sur. 

Beginning in August 2006, the Scuba Shack (to be located on the beach in SJdS at the site of the former Ricardo’s Bar) will offer a variety of scuba lessons and outings, ranging from beginner to advanced. Offerings will include PADI Open Water, Advanced, Specialty, Rescue and Dive Master courses. 

Building upon their success with Scuba Shack in Malawi, Africa, Glenn, Nahoko and their team are looking forward to providing excellent instruction and the highest quality gear for divers looking for a unique Central American aquatic adventure.

With locations on the Atlantic, Pacific, and in crater lakes, Scuba Shack Nicaragua can offer a wonderful dive experience for any level diver. Beginners can learn the basics in the calm of the lakes and explore great diving on either coast once they’re more comfortable and skilled. Technical divers can appreciate the depth of the crater lakes for mixed gas diving. Scuba Shack Nicaragua also offers sight seeing activities and hiking around some of Nicaragua's most beautiful places.
  
   

In addition to offering professional dive instruction and tours at every level, the team at Scuba Shack is collaborating with local and international groups (including Piedras y Olas, ecologists, biologists, universities, NGOs, government organizations and others) to turn our local marine areas into protected reserves and teach students, locals and visitors the power and value of preserving Nicaragua’s national resources.

Special Scuba Classes & Packages for Piedras y Olas Hotel Guests!

Beginning in August, Piedras y Olas guests will have the opportunity to learn scuba with the Scuba Shack right here at the hotel! Our scenic upper swimming pool will be home to poolside lectures, underwater training classes and other fun stuff for scuba divers in the making! The onsite classes will range from 2 hours to a half day pool + ocean training course. Starting in August, Scuba Shack dive instructors will be onsite at Piedras y Olas every day of the week, except Wednesday. See below for more information on our class offerings

Scuba Shack Programs Offered at Piedras y Olas:

Discover Scuba: 1/2 day, $75 (pool only)
Scuba diving experience in the pool.
(Participants must be 10 years old or older.)

Discover Scuba Diving: 1.5 days, $125 
(pool session + 2 dives)
Scuba diving experience in the pool, followed by two dives in the Laguna De Apoyo or the Pacific Ocean.
(Participants must be 10 years old or older.)

Bubble Makers, 1/2 day, $75 (pool only)
Scuba diving experience in the pool (maximum depth 2m)
(Participants must be 8 years old or older.)

Discover Snorkeling, $10
Learn to snorkel safely

Under water games, $ 40/session
Using SCUBA to play underwater games
(For participants 5 years old and older)

Other Great Stuff:
Advanced Open Water and Specialties do not require swimming pools. Piedras y Olas guests and residents will receive a “preferred client” discount at the Scuba Shack. Gather a group of four people together and we will run a class separately for you!

Any experience program, Discover Scuba, Discover Scuba Diving and Bubble Makers (age dependent) will be rebated 80% of the cost of the experience towards a certification course such as Junior Open Water Diver or Open Water diver.
